need parameters for rtl8139 network card to install suse 8.2

I cannot get the parameters right for nothing to get my installation going. I had red hat and it was a breeze to install. Suse is a little harder. I am trying to install from the ftp option, but to do that I need to load the network module. I cant get that done though. I do not have the correct parameters, obviously. PLEASE HELP.

I have the same issue with the exact same network card. It says its installed and I go to configure the static IP address and it cannot find the local ftp server. when mine asks for the parameters I just hit enter (with the blank field there) I decided last night to boot into 2000 and see what IO win 2000 has set for it and use that but it seems a tad bit different. kind of like IO=FE00-FEFF I guess I will try when I get home

don't know if this will help us any but this website states that we dont NEED parameters for the rtl8139 chipset... http://www.linux.cu/documentos/RedHa...s-ethernet.htm

(soon as the page loads ctrl+f and type rtl8139 and it should find it)

[note] I have tried it without parameters and it says its installed but for some reason I cannot connect to the ftp server located 5 feet away on my server machine (which hosts the 6gig folder for suse 8.2)

If there is anything else we can try to see if were even GETTING connections please let us know guys!!!

(and yes i know this original post is a year or so old...)
