Need help to add new Hard disks in mirroring

Hi all,

We have Rhel server which has two RAC servers in our environment. Both servers are configured as cluster. each server consists of two hard disks which are in mirroring mode. one is in active mode, and one is in stand-by. But i want to replace 2nd hard disk and insert new hard disk. and want to copy total file systems and configuration in to new hard disk. Can u please help to what is the procedure to insert new hard disk and get same file systems of active hard disk into new hard disk.

Thank you in advance.

Please see the LQ Rules as they pertain to text-speak, and please spell out your words. It's "you", not "u".

And there are multiple ways to do what you're after, so if you're the administrator, choose one. You can either attach the disk to another workstation, format it with whatever filesystem you'd like, and just copy the files over, use the "dd" command to 'clone' the disk to the new disk, then replace it, restore from backup media of whatever type you use, or just break the mirror, shove in the new second disk, and re-enable mirroring, and let the controller take care of it.

Since you don't tell us about your hardware, version of RHEL, how RAC is involved on that second disk, or what you're even trying to do, we can't really say much. Since both Oracle and RHEL are involved, you are PAYING for both (RIGHT????)....so have you called either/both of them for support?
