Mythtv installed, now no more /dev/video0

I've been working on getting mythtv to work for a couple days now, and was very hopefull on this latest attempt. I got ivtv installed and setup, and saw that my pvr250 was at /dev/video0. After finishing installing all the various mythtv componenets, /dev/video0 is gone, and modprobe ivtv gives me this

tux root # modprobe ivtv
sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `;'
sh: -c: line 1: `/sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install ivtv && { ; /bin/true; }'
FATAL: Error running install command for ivtv

Being the noob that I am, I don't know where to look to fix this, or how to. Any Ideas???? TIA.

Sometimes the ivtv modules remove themselves if the device has not be used for a while. Probably a memory glitch when running modprobe. You can try to reboot although Redhat 9 is very old. You can try modprobe -r ivtv msp3400 tuner saa115 as root or su or sudo to make sure the modules are completely removed. Then type modprobe ivtv msp3400 tuner saa7115 to reload them.
