my password and username are rejected?

i am trying to share folders between kubuntu and windows 7 using a crossover cable! the problem is that windows7 can easily access the files that i have shared in kubuntu but when i try the same in linux there us an authorization dialogue that keeps asking for my username and passwords! but they dont work when i put them??
what is the problem??

Hello,

How did you set up the share(s) on both ends? Did you look at the log files if anything pops out when trying to access files from Linux to Windows? We'll need a bit more information in order to be able to start helping you.

You know it's probably asking for your Windows username/password, right?
