My Linux workstation in a M$ Windows Network

Complete newbie here !

I've trashed my Windows desktop for SUZE 9.1 and so far I really like this OS

Unfortunately, I am now sat here, not logged in to the network, with no company email client and no access to the servers/files/printers on the network.

Can somebody please let me know what my options are (if any) to get the following:

- Access to File shares on Windows Servers
- Access to Printers on Windows Servers
- Login to Active Directory
- Access to my Exchange Server mailbox, calendar etc.

Many thanks for any replies.

File sharing between Win and Lin is done using Samba, for others I don't know, but trust me, there is a way for them all

Although I haven't used it, you may want to look into Ximian Connector Good luck with it and welcome to LQ -- J.W.

Thanks for your reply. I found this Ximian connector but it won't install.

It comes up with this error message just before installation:

"The installer was unable to identify your operating system.
Please mail the full text of this error to <distribution@ximian.com>.
installer-ng 1.2.6"

This wouldn't have anything to do with the fact I am running this through KDE and not GNOME??

BTW. It's SUSE 9.1

Unfortunately I don't use this myself, but I would recommend searching on the Ximian site for more info and/or tech answers. http://www.novell.com/products/connector/faq.html

Good luck with it. I'm impressed with Ximian's other products (notably Evolution, and Email client) and would expect this to be equally high quality. Sorry I cannot offer any further support but good luck with it -- J.W.
