mplayer gui error

can run the command mplayer then the movie i want to play and it plays
but if i use gmplay then the movie i want to play i get this error

open: Permission denied
vo_mga: Couldn't open /dev/mga_vid
Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

any ideas on how to fix this
this is the version im useing
MPlayer 1.0pre1-3.2.2 (C) 2000-2003 MPlayer Team

maybe u can try to run mplayer by

$ gmplay -vo x11

dun use "$" at the end as it kills mplayer once it starts....
dun forget to install skins and fonts according to the README or INSTALL file...

p/s are u sure it is gmplay but not gmplayer? anyway if the above doesnt work just try it again with gmplayer...
