Moving Files Error

I need to move the project.tar file to the /home/user33/daily directory. (It's currently in /home/user33)

I tried:
mv project.tar /home/user33/daily but I received an error that says - mv: cannot move ‘project.tar’ to ‘/home/user33/daily/project.tar’: Permission denied

To check permissions I tried
ls -l project.tar
-rw-r--r--. 1 user33 user33 112640 May 17 20:05 project.tar

Do I have to change permissions to rwx 1st in order to move the file or is there another way I can get this file in the /home/user33/daily directory like I need it to be?

Mmm... ok so root is the owner and group for daily. Is this why I can't move from the pwd even though they share the same pwd? I tried to move the tar file as both root & user33 but never thought about changing their owners and groups 1st

You need to have 'write' set for the user level trying to move the file. Currently only root has the ability to copy to that directory
