Mouse and keyboard lockup in Safe mode with Networking

Hello everyone,

I had a virus in a Windows XP home edition. I used safe mode with networking, and my mouse and keyboard worked fine until I tried to use the internet. They would lockup, so I did a clean install of my OS. But after the clean install, I still have the same problem. Has someone had this problem before or does someone know how to fix it? I have not tried the use of a different mouse and keyboard yet, but I will try to get range of problem.

I am not sure you have proven a virus either. Bad hardware could cause this.

Might start with memtest or memory diagnostics. Move on to hard drive diags. Ultimate boot cd may help as a start. Swapping hardware is a good start.

A bad virus can easily return from networked drives, floppies and usb drives.
