mounting? EFI partition during manual partitioning

From Ubuntu official documentation:https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DiskSpace

EFI partition:
Mount point: /boot/efi (no need to set up this mount point as the installer will do it automatically

What does this statement implies?
Is it saying saying don’t point the Linux bootloader(Grub2)(Device for bootloader installation) to /boot/efi ESP partition or asking not to mount /boot/efi during manual partitioning?

mounting? EFI partition during manual partitioning

I read that to mean that you don't need to create the directory which is to be used as the mount point.

Why do you care ?.
I would think the Ubuntu installer will handle things for you - might be the best option here. I haven't attempted a Ubuntu install in years though. If you do need to manually partition, you need to handle all the mounts yourself - including /boot/efi. If you already have such a EFI partition (Win10 will already have one in a dual-boot), simply use that.
Always point the grub boot device to the physical device - typically /dev/sda or similar.

What that seems to mean to me is that if there already is an efi partition on the drive where you are installing the OS the installer will use it as /boot/efi. If there is nothing on the drive and you are booting uefi then the installer will create that partition for you and mount it properly.

As noted above, the drive where that partition exists must be selected as one of the drives where the install will take place or the installer cannot use the existing partition.

If all you do is select the mount point for / the installer will automatically create /boot/efi, mount the efi partition to /boot/efi and add it to the /etc/fstab. If a efi partition doesn't exist, the installer will ask you to create one before continuing.
