Mount disk before /sbin/init starts

Hello,

I have been using linux for some time, and I had just switched to Manjaro from Ubuntu. My computer has a small 30GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. I have decided to use the SSD as a root drive and the HDD for the /home and /usr/bin directories. I accomplished this using /etc/fstab. However, when I boot I get a kernel panic because /sbin/init does not find my /usr/bin directory. Is there any way to mount my HDD before init starts? (Like using the bootloader)

Thanks.
