minimum configration needed for linux machine serving as production app server


I am using amzon linux for my new production environment in cloud.
this is linux machine like any other.

I installed tomcat for whihc I created tomcat user installed.
I was able to sucessfully start tomcat deploty my app and its running.
Please advice me what are the minimum configration (must have) checklist a linux box which is used as a production server needs
, I do write lot of data to temp folder , as mine is java applcation my app write lot of stuff to java.io.temp directory , is there anything I should for this folder ?
what are the basic measurements I should take for making this prodcution box.

It depends on what your system does; that's a pretty short description you've supplied.
At the very least, use logrotate to control the logs to stop disk filling up.
Please post the name & version of the distro you are using.

Have a check of the Sticky posts in the Security forum as well...
