mdk 9.2 user directory using all the free space on partition?

It seems that I cannot download any more files, for some reason my home user directory is full,

I just recently installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 and my /usr/beb/ directory is using up all the space on the partition that I have made for linux, however, it doesn't have anything in it! I have MAXIMUM 15MB's sitting in the folder but now when I try to download something it tells me that I must remove some files becuase the directory is full... but nothing is there!

Regards and TIA,

1beb

Distro: Mandrake Linux 9.2

Partioning:

LinuxSwap: 512 MB (SWAP)

Post the output of:

$ df -h

That will list all the mounted partitions that linux sees, their size and %used, at least as linux sees it.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part5
9.5G 9.0G 0 100% /
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1
13G 5.0G 8.1G 39% /mnt/win_c
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7
4.9G 2.0G 3.0G 40% /mnt/win_d

That's impossible though... I couldn't be using 9GB! There is nothing there to constitute 9GB! In fact my main problem is that my usr/beb directory when I right click and look at properties, it says that the usr 'beb' directory is using 6.7GB, but when I look for things in that users files... there isn't anything there that could even come close to 6.7 GB

Yeah, that was wierd... now I'm back to normal!

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part5
9.5G 2.3G 6.7G 26% /
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1
13G 5.0G 8.1G 39% /mnt/win_c
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7
4.9G 2.0G 3.0G 40% /mnt/win_d
[beb@localhost beb]$

Can anyone explain that? All I did was restart and type that df -h command?

Regards,

1beb

No clue why that happened. If you haven't done so already, you may want to install all the updates.

Yeah, I agree it was really wierd... and also, that began happening AFTER I updated... but there are no more 'normal updates' that are available only security fixes... c'est la vie... I'm having other problems too but I have a friend that's willing to help, but I'll post my questions and his solutions ( if they work ) in this forum...

Thanks for your help,

Regards,

1beb
