Hello!
I do not know if anyone has had this problem and I have searched for a few days for the answer. If there is a documented answer please provide a book title or a link.
KDE on Mandrake 10.1; when screensaver kicks on (regardless of ss or time until it starts) monitor blanks out. I checked the settings and made sure that the monitor, hard disks, and all other power management settings active long after ss is supposed to.

I have a 21 inch Gateway (!) monitor, onboard video (the Linux box is a Frankenstein, and I do not know a great deal about the hardware, but I can dig and provide that if it is hardware related.)

I have more questions, but this is just an annoyance that is driving me crazy.

try to disable dpms and see if your screensaver kicks-in. then you will know where the problem lies:

xset -dpms

Thanks for your reply.
I did try that, and screen blacks out right when ss executes.
I switched monitors and vidoe cards, same problem.
I configured ss to not turn off (power mgmt), start auto.
Any other ideas?

If may go without saying, but I have tried each of the ss's in test mode, and they do actually work.
They all worked on 10.0. but has anyone else had a problem like this?
