Making eclipse run without terminal

i am somehow trying to make eclipse run without opening a terminal window... this is my idea, create an executable file in /usr/bin and name it eclipse, but i dotn know what to put in it... i was looking in the opera file in /usr/bin and it looks like this runs the actual program

eval exec "'${OPERA_BINARYDIR}/opera' --binarydir '${OPERA_BINARYDIR}'

so, what i was thinking of doing was creating the eclipse file in /usr/bin and putting this in it

eval exec "/home/atlantis/installs/eclipse/eclipse"

i dont want to mess anything up, so im just making sure i wont... will this acutally work???

why don't you just type:

whereis eclipse

?

then use that output in your desktop shortcut. if i remember, the actual command is eclipse, you just need the right path to it. if eclipse is indeed installed in your homedir path you posted, then you don't need the eval blah blah blah. just create a link to an application and use the path you posted. i have no idea what opera has to do with anything.

well then try when making/editing your desktop shortcut to specify run in terminal in the execute tab (this is kde, not sure about gnome). you should be able to run eclipse without having to actually type in the command.
