Make install doesn't work on SUSE


Hello
I'm trying to install GAIM on SUSE 9.1 personal edition
however after i ./configure it
i write

> Make

and it gives me

>bash: make: command not found

I tried it in the SU also.. gives me the same thing..
Now, I'm very new to all this so please use simple language
I appreciate any help ^_^

Linux is CaSE SenSItIVe.

Also, ensure you have installed the dev-tools, which will include the make package which needs to be installed to run make.

Well I downloaded the Tar.gz
I opened it properly and everything mmm
I guess the files i need should be included in the tar no? :S

I tried all the variations of make
didn't work

From your install CD you'll need to get the make RPM and install it as you won't have make to install the make tarball I'm not a Suse user, but I have read thousands of times that YaST will apparently take care of the dependencies for you, I'd suggest to use that.

hi there,

just to complement MasterC information, Suse 9.1 PERSONAL does not include any development tool.
you need to install the "make package" and the other things. getting the rpm through YAST is the best way.
only after that you will be able to deal with *****.tar.gz packages.
