mail server the naming naming convention problem

hi all of you ,

I am currently using Linux Redhat 7.2 as a mail server , the naming
> that we support is like but in Redhat 9 the '.'
> replaced by the '-'
> Are there any work arounds because we need to port to RH Linux 9 and

Please if any one could help me to solve my problem. Please reply me as soon as possible.
