Mail Client (Problem Recieving)

I have Linux 10.0, and have set up my mail client through Yast. The problem that I have is in receiving my mail. Now I can send mail perfectly, but when it comes to receiving nothing appears. However this seems strange. When I check my mail on my ISP's web page there is no mail to be veiwed! meaning that it has already been retrieved (I know that there was mail there in the first place as I have sent test mail)
So where can my mail be going? I have been using Evolution mail, has it been placing it somewhere.
The mail setting that I have used are all correct, I have used them before.
Maybe it could be to do with the firewall. I have the suse firewall, plus the firewall that comes with my router setup.
I hope that someone can help as this is proving very frustrating.
Thank you.

how about switching off the software firewall? have you tried that?

If you are sure that you have and still don't get the mail, then make sure that your mail server addresses are correct (do you have dual boot? you can always just copy down the in and out mail addresses (port numbers and settings as well), then boot back into the SuSE to make sure that you have the settings correct.

Kmail or thunderbird or something (obviously only kmail if you have kde installed but thunderbird is desktop independent) might be good to try. Don't forget, even a spelling error will cause a problem (I always used to have to check as I used to mistype smtp with smpt and it cause me no end of aggro).

regards

John

Thank's for your help. I was using Evolution mail but now I have configured K Mail. Everything is up and running, though I'm not quit sure why. Everything was set up fine with Evolution mail in the first place. I have however, changed my user password with my ISP as mail seemed to be going missing. anyway all is now fine.
Thanks again.
