Hi guys, i'm relatively new to linux so please bear with me.

I recently bought a machine with the intention of running a home server and decided to go with Fedora after much exploring of others distros.

For the most part it seems to be a great distro but!!! I started to explore the control centre and then the login manager. In the login manager i simply tried to change the login screen to include a small png image (no file editing, all done through the GUI).

After this i was unable to shut down the computer! When i did eventually reboot the load screen reports problems with the file system and the OS wont start.

How could something so simple corrupt a whole system???????

how did you "eventually reboot"? did you force it to reboot with power button etc? It may have messed the filesystem. Also if it was not able to reboot byitself, then there might have been problems with some application, service etc which could have damaged the filesystem.

You should also post the exact error message you get when trying to boot. I think you just need to run filesystem check and fix the problems to make it work again.
