log of a perticular folder


Hi there

I wanted the log of a perticular folder that i am having in DATA. well if we cannot get the log of that folder without any script. then please give a simple script with the instruction how to use it as i am a complete newbie for LINUX and for your information i am using centos4. i really appreciate your kind help. Thank you.

What do you mean by the "log of a particular folder"?

i meant to say i want to know which perticular person is opening that folder and creating a file and which user is deleteing the file. basically its a SAMBA PDC setup here. need help on it.

You’d need some sort of kernel module (since inotify doesn’t keep track of this sort of thing). Something as heavyweight as tripwire would work, and something as lightweight as a modified/filtered rfsdelta would work.
