live usb for a 30Mb disc on key device


Hi
which linux could i install as a live usb for a 30Mb disc on key device?
i have a core2duo laptop with 2gb ram & 128mb nvidia card... i want it to be able to use the hardware totally...

None if you want to take advantage of the video card. I think the smallest with a graphical environment is DSL.

TinyCore is smaller, 10MB with a GUI and it is far more up to date than DSL, which is effectively abandoned.

Here is the problem, anything that small is not going to take full advantage of your hardware. It is not going to have a full Xorg server, it is going to use Xvesa, which will not give you any hardware acceleration from that Nvidia card. TinyCore doesn't have wireless support by default, you have to add that as an extension.

The Slitaz site is down right now, but I believe it comes in just under that 30MB mark and includes quite a few applications.

Slitaz is also using Xvesa: no acceleration. If you want the full speed you need either more space to install the missing stuff on a tiny distro, like Slitaz or Tinycore, or you need more space to install a "real" distribution. USB devices aren't expensive, go and get one that is bigger.
