I installed Mint on one HD with the other HD (Win8 HD) disconnected. Tried to have a choice using EasyBCD 2.2, when booting. I have choice of Win8 (works OK) or several Linux positions but none work because my Windows Boot Loader doesn't recognize any.
Is EasyBCD 2.2 a boot loader? If so how do I get it to bypass the Win8 loader?
You might check your BIOS to see if you have an option to diable 'Secure Boot'.
EasyBCD modifies the windows bootloader and should enable you to boot Linux.
You haven't given any information on what you see when you boot, are there options to boot Linux? What happens when you select one?
EasyBCD2.2 will let me go to Win8 OK but cannot get it to Mint UNLESS I can change the BIOS to open with the 2nd HD. EasyBCD Boot Menu lists Hard Drive, CD/DVD Drive, Windows 8, NeoGrub Bootloader, and NeoSmart Linux. The last two do not work. I am a real dummy as far as Grub goes, it seems to me I should be able to get things working with EasyBCD?
Any and allhelp greatly appreciated.
NeoGrub Bootloader, and NeoSmart Linux. The last two do not work.
That's windows software and you will probably need to post whatever config file it uses for someone to help you. Some info on it below. What does 'do not work' mean? Do you get any messages when you select either? What does happen?
