Linuxlite hangs after installation updates and reboot

Guys,

This is my first post and new to Linux so hope there is someone out there who might be able to help.

I have an old ASUS N10E Netbook which I intend to donate to a charitable case. It was running on Windows XP so I downloaded Linuxlite and loaded it up and all went well. Reboot came up and I was flying but then I selected the updates to install which I did and machine loaded the updates and then restarted.
I though all was ok when the quite feather appeared and the progress bar started to move left to right....it reached the end and just hung forever ..2 hours later I am still looking at it ...nothing is happening. Restarted the machine numerous times but same story ...just hangs.

I even tried reinstalling Linux but for some reason it will not boot up from the CD but seems to go to hard drive again even thiugh I went into BIOS and set boot up from CD...

Any idea what the problem might be ...????

Anything can be a problem, you have to go through the logs and check for errors. Though my bet is some software you upgraded is casing a problem. Though it can be more things. Get into administrative runlevel and get the logs. Than analyse them and you will solve your problem in no time.

Anyways have you checked for HCL of your O.S.? Does your hardware meet the requirements for that O.S.?
If not than find an O.S. that is compatible with your hardware and reinstall the whole system, but first sure make sure you backup your data so you can restore them on your new O.S.

Thanks for the advice,

My latest update, I managed to reload Linuxlite from CD and all went well. I then followed instructions and installed on machine. But this time I did not install updates. Everything fine and could get on to the internet, access all the files etc. BUT when I do a restart on the machine I end up with the same problem. Very slow to start up and when completed it hangs again. I pressed esc key and see all the loaded files stating OK! but thats where it ends ...hanging machine.
I'm at a loss to know the reason why and was thinking of maybe loaded another Linux OS such as Mint....
It's a neat little Netbook machine and never had any trouble with it before so reluctant to dump it considering I want to give it to someone who really needs it.
BTW I upgraded it to 2Gig RAM so should be plenty of RAM to handle Linuxlite .

Thanks guys for any suggestions you might have to solve this problem

They have a very supportive forum and I'm sure they'll help you. It's always best to get support from the developers as they built the system...
