Linux Terminal Server Project

Hi there,
I would like to install LTSP on a single network card PC, because I dont need the internet connection for my thin clients. I am using a 24 port unmanaged switch.(These are diskless thin clients, which are small boxes fixed behind a LED monitor) How do I do it??

Thanks

Hello.

A generic question so I can't fully explain an answer.

There are a few ways to create a LTSP on linux. From scratch or from an add on package to some common distro. How do you want to get LTSP on some server? What web page did you see that made you want to try this?

Most new nic's can support a second IP address in linux. You could run into some issue with a few odd ones. I am not sure you do need a second nic. Many of the web pages on this are for school type installs also where no external connection is needed. Linux K to 12 is part of all this issue.

LTSP

Hi there,
Apologies for not having replied to your suggestion
I am using Edubuntu
I am in charge of a C programming lab for fresh students with no background knowledge of C
I had networked 24 PC's (all Core2Duo machines with 2 gb RAM and a 500Gb hard drive
Connected to a 24 port unmanaged switch.
Management wants to allocate the PC's to other departments
We have bought 24 Thin client devices which have a monitor keyboard and a mouse. I can be spared one PC to use as a server. We do not need the internet connection
We need GCC from the linux as the students will be performing exercises about writing two C programmes and interconnecting them.
I guess that just sums up the situation
Thank you.
