I bought an "ex-gov" refurb years ago - was a piece of junk. The video card I had to put in it made the whole deal a waste of money. Never again.

You have Terminal in your Mac's Utilities folder. Download the iso you wish to burn, open Terminal, then use the dd command in Terminal to burn the iso to DVD. With an Intel Mac, you can multiboot most modern Linux distros, or replace macOS. rEFInd makes a nice boot manager I use to multiboot an iMac 24".
