have you read the loges in
/var/log
like dmesg , messages , and Xorg.0.log
start at the end of the logs and see if there any errors

This seems rather to be a hardware problem (if "stuck" in this case means hanging or spontaneous rebooting) - this can be caused by:
- a problem with one of the RAM modules
- a problem with the motherboard
- bad ventilation leading to an over-heated system

It is certainly not a problem of the default Fedora 10 install, otherwise it would happen to everyone who uses it.

I agree with T74marcell. It may be just the matter of overheated motherboard/hard drive/memory. I remember - I've tried a fan-less power supply in my computer, a couple of years ago. The thing was REALLY quiet - no fan noise - but it heated up the whole computer to the point where it just stopped working. Check your system temperature. There should be a program, somewhere in the system settings, which checks the temperature.
Put it on your desktop and watch it. Maybe you just need to add another fan to your case to pull the hot air out of it.

I wonder who designed that?

"Hey look. This spinning thing makes a lot of noise. Let's take it out! Hey, it still boots! Let's sell it."
