Linux Directory Structure


Been dabbling with linux on a more regular basis since I joined this forum.. and I think.. actually this question has been on my head for a pretty long time...

anyone can explain how the directory sturcture of linux work? what's in /etc/ what's in /usr, /var, /usr/sbin etc...

been quite confusing at times....
