LILO on a CRT

I've recently moved from grub to lilo as its better for slackware, but I have a slight problem, with "vga=775" (1280x1024) the text is cut off at the left, the only fix to read the first parts of boot messages is to resize the screen with my CRT controls so it is more to the right, anybody else have the same problem or know of a fix?

Run xorgsetup, see if that makes any difference.

I'm on my laptop now, which has a resolution of 1280x800 for X and the desktop environment, and on my desktop my resolution is 1280x1024. But on both, in lilo.conf, I've got this:
Code:
# VESA framebuffer console @ 1024x768x256
vga = 773
And the boot up messages are perfectly centred and readable.
