Hi There
I have Installed redhat linux 7.2 on two three different types of m/cs i.e IBM PC 300GL, Wipro Genius, IBM Server 5500, Assembled PC with 810 motherboard with Seagate Hard Disk.
My question is if i choose Lilo as my boot loader and install the system the Lilo is not loaded in MBR on IBM pc. The installation works fine with Grub boot loader.
If i did the same in Assembled PC(mentioned above) the Lilo works fine with the same installation CD's
Can somebody tell me where i am going wrong?
Is the Lilo bootloader is different for different Systems?
What is wrong in my case?

basically the lilo.conf should tell lilo where to install

boot=/dev/hda


or you can install like this

lilo -b /dev/hda

yes. And remember that when you install Linux, before you finish installation, make sure you Select the button where it says to install Lilo or Grub in the MBR, and then you can boot to any OS from there.
