libgcc_s.so.1 problem

Hello,

I am currently running redhat 8.0 and having problems with shared libraries. Whenever I run 'man <something>', I get

groff: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/gtbl: error while loading shared libraries: libgcc_s.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

libgcc_s.so.1 is installed in /lib/. Just to be safe, I linked it in /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib, put them into LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and also ran ldconfig. The problem is still not fixed. This seems to be a problem not only with man, but pretty much anything else that loads the shared library.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

libgcc_s.so.1 is probably a symbolic link to another file; does the other file exist? You can see what the file is using:
Code:
ls -l /lib/libgcc_s.so.1
You might also want to run
Code:
/lib/libgcc_s.so.1
to see if there are any dependency errors.

Try running /sbin/ldconfig as root.
