Kubuntu 7.10 live disk will not boot

I just deleted win2000 from my wife's computer preparatory to installing Gutsy (kubuntu 7.10). Boot sequence is set to boot first from CD. With Gutsy disk in CD drive, I boot and get following:

Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot media in selected Boot device and press a key

Pressing Enter just brings this message up again. Parted Magic boots fine. Also, I have used this disk many times on my computer. I just tried it again to make sure, and on my computer it boots fine. What can I do?

Erm, polish it with your tie? Can you swap the CD drive in the wife's computer with another drive? you have to be SO careful doing work on a wife's computer because if it works well you get cuddles and if it doesn't you get a frypan upside the head and frequent sighs of "Why couldn't you have just left it like it was?"

Fiddle the IDE cables to the drive as well, sometimes stuff doesn't like booting off a slave or master or the first in the chain versus the second in the chain etc.

Problem solved. I mistakenly burned on DVD and wife's computer recognized only CD's.
