Kmail with Firebird

First I like to thank you guys for this wonderful site - I can't even think of a way to make it better.

I been using the Debian-Knoppix installation on my computer now for a few months and I am very happy.

There are a few thinks which I have a hart time figuring out on my own and I was hopping I can get some help here.

1) I am using Kmail and the Firebird browser. Now when I click on a web link in Kmail the link opens in Konqueror. I was wondering how I can change that.

2) Is there a 'HowTo' on networking my debian box with an XP box? I had that all setup a few months ago when I was running win2000 on the other machine but since my upgrade to XP it is all gone. I don't remember how I had done that.

I guess this will keep me busy for a while, so I will stop asking.

By the way there is one more thing. One of the best thinks about Linux is that I have had no problems with viruses so far. Do I not have to worry about them & is there samething I should do?

Surely you mean when you click on a web link in konqueror, it opens kmail. To do this in firebird, first get the mozex extention by visiting this link:-http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/
then set it up as per this:-

Go into tools>options>extensions, highlight mozex then click the options button. This opens a window wher you need to click the box for intercept mailto clicks. Then in the boxed are titled Mailer, type this:- kmail --subject %s %a

That's it.

The previous poster is showing you the other direction, of course.

Kmail does not have a default browser you can set - instead, you must
change the KDE default browser for your whole system.

You can change what kmail, and in turn kde runs as the default
browser to another tool by going into kcontrol->kde components->file associations
text/html

You can change it to use another browser instead of Konqueror.
It works on Mozilla for me.
However, I have been unable to get it working with Firefox, as you can see

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=168436

Kmail does something funny with hyperlinks opened from e-mails that seems
to confound firefox.
