keep getting dropped into mon> prompt during install

Hi I am trying to install YDL 4.0 on a 17in powerbook (factory standard), radeon graphics, 512mb of ram. My problem is that I get to a screen that asks me to choose an installation method, I have tried both text and graphic installation processes, and shortly after I get dropped into a "mon>" prompt from which I can do nothing! (except type X and shutdown).

I'm not actually asking for a solution to this (although one would be nice ) I'd just like to know what this means? I take it, it's not a good sign... I have posted in the official YDL forums, but no answer, so please could someone shed some light on what this "mon>" prompt is? I have tried googling but since I don't even know what this is its pretty hard to look up, I get lots of references to monday, lol.

thanks for any info on mon>

Of all the references I've been able to google on this, here is the most useful one. It looks like the kernel may have a problem with your hardware.

good luck.
