kcmshell --list = no modules for a Debian Etch resinstall

Hello,
I assume this is an easy question. I am asking while I am "under the hood" looking for the problem, though I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Debian Etch resintall. /home is on its own old partition. I call up control panel, however it has not modules. I ran kcmshell --list as my user and got the following message:

guru@omega:~/.kde/share/config$ kcmshell --list
The following modules are available:
guru@omega:~/.kde/share/config$

Is there something that I need to delete in order for it to re-populate a database? I'm not sure.
Any gurus have the fix?

Thank you,
Mohtech

Try making this link:
ln -s /etc/xdg/menus/applications-merged /etc/xdg/menus/kde-applications-merged
