I boot from lilo, but I want it to just be a blinking cursor, without the menu options. I've tried removing "prompt" from the lilo.conf, and running /sbin/lilo and it will boot automatically into the default, but, if I hold the alt keys, to select another OS, BAM, the menu pops up. How do I get rid of the menu and graphical interface boot? I just want to type the name and hit enter, without the menu options. I'm sure this is a less than linux 101 question, probably Kinder-Linux or HeadStart-Linux question. lol, Any help would be appreciated. BTW, I have Linux Mandrake 8

Just type in the name, hit <enter>, then hit alt. It'll pop up the menu for a
short time, but will already be booting. If that's not acceptable, read the
man page for lilo.conf. There is an option that can be put in the global
section of lilo.conf that allows one to choose the boot loader, with the
options being text, menu, or bitmap.
then it lists the image files and passwords and so forth.
Thanks for your input. I didn't mean to take so long to reply. I may lose this thread now. I hope you read back on this.
