how do i tell if i have a static ip ?

select main menu -> system settings -> network. then double click on ur ethernet card. if u see IP addresses entered at the bottom most 3 boxes, then it is a static IP. if the automatically obtain IP address check box is ticked, then u have a dynamic ip

hi there

check ur
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
file
if u se the BOOTPROTO as STATIC then u have a static IP

wat about in slackware 10.0
i didn't find sysconfig inside /etc.

try
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
