Internet Connection

Help,

I can't figure out how to connect to the internet through a cable line.

I have just installed Knoppix 3.6 with 2.6.7. kernel. The ethernet cable is connected to my only ethernet port. I don't know how to configure it to work properly.

I typed " pump eth0" and it said "pump: no extra parameters are expected" so I ran it without the extension and got "Operation failed"

you can get the source for dhcpcd from here http://www.phystech.com/download/dhcpcd.html

try booting from the knoppix cdrom it self... and you should be able to access the interent because i was able to...

For other users with similar questions:

My "eth0" was not set to ethernet so I enabled "eth1" which was. The "pump eth1" will not work, you must specify that you are submitting the interface like "pump -i eth1" That fixed my problem. Thanks to Matir for the pump idea.
