Internet Assess through MS server as a Linux client.
OS: Fedora 9, Internet Source: LAN, Source Server Windows
Problem: I'm having problems accessing internet, ip settings are through DHCP, Net access on xp is perfect but it shows problems on F9, sometimes it takes allot of time and gives error of (timeout) and connection problems while using yum but after searching some mirrors it again starts downloading...... but some times it seems perfectly working....
am confused what could be the real prob?
Is it a server side reception problem or client(my) side problem. my firewall setting are set to default.
While using xp it works perfect... no timeouts noting...
Using Fedora... Browser doesn't world often but yum works.. yum works more than my browser.. I use firefox and setting are quite fine... It, sometimes, works as there was never a problem but then it stops working..
*( on xp we have to install an AntiPoisioner.exe(specifically designed for our LAN) that has to do with LAN.... but for linux they don't have such thing.. i personally think its fault of server .... or i am wrong? please help.. am compelled to use XP coz my net doesn't work as it does there....
I talked to the service provider through LAN, here things are not treated professionally. I doubt he doesn't know about LINUX at all... And probably I'm the only LINUX user on our LAN..
He told me the problem is from my side but I have been wandering around to get rid of this problem..
problem(my server refuses my connection when i interact through Fedora and its fine when using windows, however, sometimes and most of the time late night timings(after 1 am ) my internet on fedora os works as there was never a problem... with same speed that of xp but in most of cases not...)
i have two pcs so when i use my P-3 system with xp as server as a medium for my P-4 LINUX computer to LAN SERVER through network connection sharing.. it works perfect...
when i directly come in contact with LAN SERVER through P-4 USING LINUX problems occur..
so could you suggest what the real problem is....
So called LAN administrator denies any problems from his LAN server..
on the other hand i am not ready to make a windows pc server for my Linux system..:-) It would be completely opposite to make my windows computer server for Linux based computer....
Going from the diagram and your mention of AntiPoisoner.exe, I'd guess that that app fiddles around with network cxns. Unless you can find out what it does, (ask the devs?), you may be SOL.
