Installtation Question?


Goodday.

I have downloaded Rar file into the temp folder.

Clicked on temp folder, click on rarlinux-3.4.1.tar.gz and i select extract on to root directory.

Now that rar folder is lying on my root directory. I dunno what to do next.

Please help!

Here are the files in /root/rar
default.sfx
file_id.diz
license.txt
makefile
order.htm
rar
rar.lst
rar_static
rar.txt
readme.txt
technote.txt
unrar
whatsnew.txt

What do i do next.

Please explian in details. Thankyou.

I would read the .txt files and see if they tell you what to do.

You have a Makefile there. In general, one does
Code:
make && sudo -c 'make install'
to install from a Makefile, although this is not necessarily the case. It depends on the package.

I don't know rar, but I notice one of your file is rar.
Is it an executable (i.e., do a ls -l)? If so, type

./rar

in that directory.
