Installing Ubuntu 10.04

I burned about 5 different CDs and could not load Ubuntu onto my computer. I would get error messages.
I then took the CD and tried it on my wife's computer. Instant success. My present computer has Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. The optical drive is relatively new and has been used rarely. Any insight into what is going on would be greatly appreciated

Use RW not R.
Check the md5/sha sum with the original.
Test the image out in a vm.
Some drives will skip over errors and others will report them. Could be the media.

The error messages would help.

10.04 is still in beta testing; report the bug so they can fix it for the final release:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs

Linux is community-driven and relies on its beta testers to find and report bugs.

(This is assuming you have already tried and exhausted the suggestions of the previous posters, of course.)
