installing probs with mandrake 10.0

I have soyo k7v dragon plus mobo, 256 crucial pc2100 ddr ram, nvidia ti4600 geforce 4 vid card, lite on cd and cdr drives, maxtor 20 gig hd, and seagate 60 gig hd, amd athlon xp 1800+. I want to install mandrake 10. official. I have all three iso burnt correctly but when it boots from cd drive I get the first screen and it goes to a text screen then after that it is a blank black screen with a flashing underscore. Is this normal, It will sit there for awhile and do nothing. How do I get past that. please help

How long do you wait? Are you sure the cds are ok? Sorry I have never installed Mandrake but maby it has some sort of option to boot in safe install mode/ turn off acpi??

I remember some reported problems with CD1, but one can boot from CD2. Tried that?

Did you check the md5sum for the first .ISO image? Sounds like it may be corrupt.
