Installing Kali over and existing partition

I have a newer distro of Kali 2016.2 and am trying to install it on a sata HD...
The disc boots and I get to the install options and choose install, after several seconds the screen disappears, no curser, no dialogue, no nothing, just a blank screen.
Could the HD be faulty?

Not likely the HDD. Graphics issue maybe. What sort of equipment you are trying to install on would certainly help get answers.

Likely a bad download.
Did you check your downloaded image?
Does it run 'live' OK?
