installing apps gcc lib problem


Hello,
I am running Red Hat 9. I am having above problem for every application that I wish

to install. above is the example for installing XMMS, i got error same for totem. but the

rpm setups are running fine ( like i installed java ).

[ $ reprensents command line ]

$./configure
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for prefix by checking for xmms... no
checing for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checing for cl... no
configure: error no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See 'config.log' for more details.


Only setups in which we have to follow these steps are occuring this problem:

{

$ ./configure
$ make
$ make install

}

Please Help me?

I got the same with other stull like glib,... whatever so make sure u have all development packages like gcc -dev or whatever seems to be named similar and includes 'dev'
