Installin bin files

This could be a stupid question. How do you install .bin files? i'm trying to install Java JDK and it's a bin file. Double clicking is not an option. i know how to install .tar and .bz from shell but nothing else. cheers

Make it executable with chmod +x <filename>, then ./<filename> to run it (assuming you first cd to the folder containg the file).

Or just enter the command sh <filename>.bin in the folder containing the .bin file.

Note that, if the .bin file is installing a program, you may need to do a sudo sh <filename>.bin to run the program as "root".
