Installed From USB over network - wont boot without USB plugged in.

Hi, I'm pretty new to linux, and I've just installed Ubuntu. My cd drive is broken so installing with a usb drive seemed like the easiest option.

Everything installed correctly which is great, however, the computer won't boot without the USB drive plugged in which is a bit of a problem . Just wondering if anyone had an idea of how to fix this?

I've checked and grub is installed (I also tried updating using apt-get and it said i had the newest version). The menu.1st file has 3 entries, the main os, recovery mode and memtest.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks allot!

Jim

Are you sure you didn't actually install it to the USB drive? What exactly happens when the drive is not plugged in and you try to start the computer?

All sorted

Its all sorted, It was installed onto my hard disk but the menu.lst file referenced the wrong drive. I just needed to change the disk from (hd1,0) to (hd0,0). Thanks. Jim
