Install .xpi

Hi,

i have just downloaded the java plugin in .xpi format for my mozilla browser and i don't know how to set it.

I logged in as root, i started mozilla and in the address bar i wrote the destination of the .xpi file. I confirmed the installation and exited. I saw that in the directory that mozilla is, a new folder java2 created. I logged in as user and when i opened a page that required java it showed me a prompt to download the plugin and saying that it is missing.

Does anyone know how to set it?

Thanks!

If you visit "about:plugins" do you see java in the list?

Personally I find it easier to install the relevant version for your version of gcc from:
http://www.blackdown.org

Then just symlink the plugin into my plugins directory.

In the section aboutlugins i don't see the java plugin at all.

I found rpm files for the plugin but because i have downloaded the xpi file i want to install it.

Can i install the plugin in my profile directory? Root installs it in /opt/mozilla/...

Thanks anyway!
