I'm using kubuntu 7.04 for 32 bit, how in the hell do you run programs, I want to install my nvidia drivers but I don't know how to.

2 ways to run programs

1 from the start file menu

2. find a terminal in that same menu and type the name of your program e.g. konqueror

as for nvidia stuff try practicing around a bit leaning the basics then we'll tell you

Ok i'll put it like this, I suck i don't know how to install anything what so ever, I can't just click on the application I am told by numerous people that I must do it through the terminal. I just have no idea what i am supposed to type in.

cd /to/the/file and type ./filename

it's in a folder on my destop the file name is home/basshead62887/Desktop/DL/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run

open a terminal
su
enter roots password
cd /home/basshead62887/Desktop/DL
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run

sorry in a couple weeks i'll probably be doing well, bear with me here. Now it says permission denied? I'm having my friend come over and teach me it anyway but what is that all about permission denied?

the *ubuntu's do things slightly differently than most distro's, so following the link above would be the wise choice.

the executable bit is not set and/or you need elevated privileges to execute it

sudo chmod +x NVIDIArestofgiantfilenamehere.run
sudo ./NVIDIAyadayadayada.run
