Question Ifconfig there is no such file or folder found in /sbin


Hi Experts

I just tried to give ifconfig command but after i got error i went in /sbin and found that my ifconfig file is missing.

Help!!!

Which Linux OS are you running on? For example, in CentOS/Red Hat it is provided by the net-tools package, that is installed by default. I would tell you to verify the status of the package, but more information is needed.

I'd start to verify the package by means of
Code:
rpm -V net-tools
and if it's not installed try
Code:
yum whatprovides '*/ifconfig'

Maybe also check to see if the 'ip' command works as your distribution maybe using it instead of ifconfig.
