how to start X ?

does anyone know what this means?

Code:
-screen WIDTH[/WIDTHMM]XHEIGHT[/HEIGHTMM][@ROTATION][X][Y][xDEPTH/BPP{,DEPTH/BPP}[xFREQ]]
i need to start the X server (Xfbdev) but i need to enter all of that in, and i cant make much of it

according to the linux framebuffer, my screen is 800x600 37.878KHz @ 60Hz
but i don't know were to put that info in, and the man pages are no help at all, they don't say a single thing about how to start it (another man page that doesn't really tell anyone how to use the software, just what it does)

also with the X server Xvesa also doesn't start, it complains about how it cant find default font 'fixed', i tried to tell it to use another font, same problem... should i reinstall all the X libs and fontconfig?

Run (as root) xf86config or alter /etc/XF86Config with a plain text editor. It looks like you've got all the info you need to make it work.

nope, i don't have XFree86, I'm using freedesktop.org's kdrive type server, XFree86 comes with it to, and the message is just as hard to get (some parts are moved around, but its the same), so i still need to enter in the info the same way to use the linux frambuffer X server

the server uses no startup program, or has config files, so i need to enter everything in by hand to start it up
