Question How to reset (forgotten) user password?


I made my first and only user on Linux and forgot the password it 5 long pls help thank you

Reset the password a root.

Please spell out your words, and use a descriptive title.

As repo said, log in as root, and reset your password. If you don't remember the root password, boot into single-user mode, then type in "passwd root", and reset it.

Well, you can usually just put an "S" into the Grub boot screen. But, you say nothing about what version/distro of Linux, so it's hard to be certain what will work for you.

Please use a descriptive title for your thread excluding words like 'urgent' or 'help'. Using a proper title makes it easier for members to help you. I managed title modification.
