How to remove a non-empty dictory in shell?


It seems that "rmdir" only can remove a empty dictory in shell,
How to remove a non-empty dictory in shell, for example, in bash.?

rm -Rf directory

you might wanna try the i parameter
rm -Ri
which shall ask for each file (boring, might save you though)

Would the following work: alias wipe rm -Rf

Or use Midnight Commander if it is installed (comes with the distro) a nice simple file management system in my view.

Type mc in the shell and get going

mc does support Greek! (maybe chinese, difficult though)
try in the options to enable the 8bit support
